Challenge and areas of activity
The client approached us with a functioning online store made in the PrestaShop 1.6 system. The site had not been updated and adapted to current e-commerce standards for many years. One of the main problems was the lack of proper display of the store on mobile devices and a complicated purchasing process. Additionally, due to the outdated version of PrestaShop, the site had significantly limited development possibilities, also showing deficiencies in the area of performance and security.
PrestaShop store migration, interface refresh, development
The first step necessary to fulfill the client's assumptions was the migration of the store from the PrestaShop 1.6 system to PrestaShop 1.7, which enabled increasing system performance and security and opening the store to new development opportunities. For this purpose, we made a new online store implementing the previously used functionalities and integrations, then moved the database, customer base, products and orders, ending with the implementation of a new responsive template and refreshing the visual layer.
After the migration, we focused on developing the store with new functionalities and optimizing the purchasing process.
Purchasing process optimization
In order to optimize the purchasing process, we designed and implemented a new product card, along with a convenient gallery presenting high-resolution photos and fast PayPal Checkout. We also introduced changes on the home page, and replaced the standard PrestaShop checkout with the One Page Checkout solution, significantly shortening the user path from placing a product in the cart to completing the order.
The form of placing orders by wholesale customers also improved. Wanting to optimize this process, we implemented a B2B ordering zone, enabling browsing the entire store offer in the form of a list of products placed on one subpage. Thanks to this functionality, business customers can make a large order with one click "Add to cart", without the need for long-term browsing of product pages or direct contact with a salesperson.

PrestaShop 1.7 Automations
The specificity of Mancraft's activities required the implementation of automation. Creating business customer accounts was integrated with the VAT VIES system, which automatically verifies the correctness of the NIP number and company status. Stocks and transactions along with payment and delivery data were integrated with the Baselinker system. We also implemented automation of generating and sending a monthly sales report which speeds up accounting.
In order to increase security, it was necessary to introduce a number of additional security measures, including server-level certificate automation and encryption of all traffic, as well as the implementation of additional rules and blockages. The assumption of further development work required the implementation of CI/CD automation and the GitHub repository, thanks to which there is full control and standardization of introducing changes in the code.
Implementation of a loyalty program for PrestaShop
In the next steps, we implemented a loyalty program, thanks to which Mancraft customers can place orders by collecting points for each amount spent. The transaction value is converted according to the assumed rule, and points can be exchanged for attractive Mancraft gadgets including hats, scarves, mugs and lanyards. The operation of the loyalty program has been adapted to operate for many groups of customers with different discount thresholds and store currencies.
List of key functionalities and automations
- VAT VIES verification system - automatic verification of B2B customers' business during account creation
- B2B ordering zone - enabling wholesale orders in an easy way
- Loyalty program - collecting points for purchases with the possibility of exchange for Mancraft rewards and gadgets
- Automation of generating and sending monthly sales report
- Adapting the store to the requirements of the Omnibus directive
- Configuration of delivery options depending on customer groups, address and store language
- Implementation of displayed payment gateways depending on the store currency
- Store integration with a platform for sending transactional emails
- CI/CD automation - The process of uploading changes from the test environment, increasing stable system operation
Technologies applied
In addition to the PrestaShop 1.7 engine, we adapted many proven solutions for the store implementation. Foreign sales are handled using Stripe and PayPal gateways, and shipping is organized by one of the available operators DHL, Poczta Polska and UPS. For the Polish market, we implemented the PayU payment gateway and shipping to InPost Parcel Lockers. Stocks and transactions are integrated with the Baselinker system, and transactional emails are handled using the EmailLabs platform, which guarantees the highest level of message delivery. To increase security, we used the Cloudflare solution, eliminating dangerous traffic and unauthorized access to internal network resources.
